Hi Mo & Pheesao (everyone else also),
I followed the instructions you wrote about CCleaner - your message
below mine. I've been using it myself for quite awhile...
Just one thing I thought was important: When running the Registry
Cleaner part, I would highly recommend one saves the changes when it
asks if you'd like to. Know where it's going or set where you'd like to
save it. IF something doesn't run right after, you can always reinstall
the registry back to before the registry cleaning.
You can uncheck all and check one line at a time after until you find
the culprit... A lot of work but easier than trying to restore a
registry with an item missing.
If you delete something in CCleaner from the registry, "System Restore"
may or may not bring it back. I just don't care to gamble. Even the
"Fix Computer" when booting up, after the BIOS runs, may not restore it.
Also, in there is a spot for "Unused File Extensions". I would suggest
you uncheck that also. If someone sends you something with an extension
you haven't used before, you won't be able to open it without going
through a load of steps to get that extension back. [Experience taught
me that.]
I will admit that I do not use the "uninstaller part". For uninstalling
programs, I find another FREE little program called "Revo Uninstaller".
As far as I've heard from many computer gurus, this is the best free
program for uninstalling as it searches out all the bits and pieces that
some programs try to leave in when one uses an uninstalling program or
Microsoft's [formerly add/remove] now "Programs and Features" to remove
them.
If the CCleaner uninstaller does it for you, stick with it. Revo is
just my preference.
Hugs,
Emma

Hi Mo,
I believe I can help you with your Ashampoo (Bing) problem. This is
what worked for me and it was a permanent fix, so it should work for
you.
I have a teenaged son, who loved Bing once upon a time. However, it
is my computer & I am known to be an extremely selfish and very
unreasonable person, from time to time. After I threatened to delete
all of his precious music files, ring tones, video games, etc ... (and
other assorted stuff that teenaged boys think they can hide on their
mom's computer) he conceded that I DID have the absolute right to
delete
anything that I wanted, from MY computer, & that perhaps he could live
without Bing after all.
I did get plenty of experience in getting rid of Ashampoo (Bing)
on a regular basis while our negotiations were in progress, though.
Here'[s how I did it....
If you do not already have Crap Cleaner (CCleaner) on your computer,
please go to
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
and download the latest (and free) version. Install it please.
Then...
Open CCleaner.
Click on 'Tools'. Scroll down the left hand side until you find the
program named Ashampoo or Bing (I've seen it both ways).
Highlight it. On the right side you will see more labeled boxes.
Click on: 'Run Uninstaller'. and it will delete everything that is
Ashampoo and/or Bing from your computer. You won't have to look all
through the computer to find all of the bits & pieces that get
scattered
around.
Since you are already deleting a program that you don't want or
hate, scroll through all of the programs and get rid of the ones you
don't want.
Caveat... Make sure you know what you are deleting!!! Do NOT
delete anything if you do not know what it does!!! You can and will
damage your computer that way. If you are not sure, it is better to
just
leave it there until you are 100% sure that you don't need/want that
program.
Once you are have completed getting rid of programs that you want
gone, find the word "Registry" on the left and open.
After opening; 'Scan For Issues'. Then "Fix ALL Selected Issues".
Now, you are ready to clean house.
Open the Cleaner (top word left side) and click on either either
'Analyze' or 'Run Cleaner'.
I generally skip the analysis, cuz I know things are a mess. If they
weren't a mess, I wouldn't be asking CCleaner to fix things for me.
After CCleaner has finished running, I go back to the top and click
on 'Applications' and run the cleaner there as well.
When all of this is done, your computer is pretty clean and should
only need to be defragged at it's normal time. Unless you are one that
rarely or never defrags. In that case, I strongly suggest that you
defrag once you are done, to complete your house cleaning.
Hope this helps you.
Cool breezes and warm wishes. Pheesao

Avandia Side-Effects: Heart Related Injuries, Broken Bones and Liver
Failure.
Avandia has been linked to many side effects and injuries, including:
Heart Attack Congestive Heart Failure Stroke Death Bone Fractures Liver
Failure
Avandia Warnings The problems and reported injuries related to Avandia
have led to increased warnings from the FDA about the risks of heart
attacks and congestive heart failure. Many experts have pushed for a
recall of the drug to protect consumers from serious injuries related to
the use of the drug. There have been FDA warnings on Avandia and medical
reports about the safety of Avandia over the past 10 years including:
2000 - John Buse M.D. expressed concerns about potential Avandia heart
risks. He subsequently reported that he was "intimidated" by the drug
maker for speaking out about the dangers that could be associated with
the medication. 2001 - The FDA issued a reprimand letter to the
manufacturer after sales representatives made misleading statements
downplaying the heart risks. Allegedly inaccurate and misleading
comments were made to an undercover investigator at a medical
conference. 2002 - Public Citizens Health Research Group criticized the
FDA for failing to follow recommendations of their staff scientists to
add a strong "black-box" warning to Avandia, and its rival Actos. 2006 -
The FDA announced a warning label change on Avandia stating the drug
potentially increases the risk of heart disease and heart-related pain.
November 14, 2007 - The FDA announces a new "black box" warning about
the heart attack risk, after narrowly voting against a recall on
Avandia. January 24, 2008 - A report is published where an FDA staff
scientists estimated that approximately 83,000 heart attacks may have
been caused since the drug came onto the market.
