Then why would the way they're displayed in Windows Explorer suddenly
change one day from the way they appear when displayed in IE? It's a
puzzlement!

There is nothing wrong... The cookies are kept in two places... Look at
the
header in the pictire.. Doc and set / cookies... That is one
place(txt)...
Now, bring up I.E.. - go to tools - internet options - browsing history
settings - settings - view files... Your cookies are there with the
vendors
name(com, net, org, etc..)....

I did what you said below, and found them listed exactly the same as
they were previously listed within the actual "Cookie Folder" itself.
Still a dilemma as to why their appearance within the "Cookie Folder"
itself would suddenly change to .txt files overnight...?

buffalo says. Two possible answers to your problem
Windows released a set of updates about the time of your problem
and that would be the first place to look and the second would be to
check the
settings on the page and make sure something hasn't changed by being
clicked accidentally.

Firefox released version 6.0 and there has been reports of a few
problems.
thi is their third major upgrade this year and as with the other two it
is probably better if you wait a bit before installing ver 6.0
